If you think an ancestor was in trouble with the law, you might
find the following records useful:
- Bath Quarter Sessions Court minute books, 1682 to 1941,
indexed for the years 1837-1894. (You can find more about
the Quarter Sessions records we hold by following this link.)
- Records of commitments to the House of Correction, 1836-1859
(indexed).
- Police Registers of Criminals, 1910-1934.
Very serious cases were sent for trial at the County
Assizes. The Record Office holds no Assize records; these
are all held by the National Archives.
