Starting to trace the history of your house
General Wolfe's House, Trim Street, about 1930
(Ref. PX380)
Decide whether you want to find out about the building itself, or about its owners and occupants - or both.
Try to estimate the approximate age of the house from architectural features/style.
If you can, look at the deeds of the property. Look especially for an Abstract of Title, summarising names and dates from the deeds.
Check whether the building is listed as of architectural or historical interest; there are some 5,000 ‘listed’ buildings in Bath.
