As well as the records of official bodies, the Record Office holds a large number of records donated or deposited by local individuals, families, businesses, societies and other organisations.  These vary in size from a single item to many shelf-loads.

  • The Royal Bath & West and Southern Counties Society (1777-present)
  • Bathwick Estate Company (mainly title deeds and financial records)
  • Bath District Health Authority (administrative and clinical records, especially of the Royal United Hospital 1826-1979)
  • Stone, King and Wardle, solicitors: ledgers and letter books 1835-1952, deeds and clients’ papers 1594-1940
  • W.T. Chesterman and Sons, solicitors: financial records 1886-1961
  • Titley, Long and Co., solicitors: title deeds 1642-1942.
