Part of a map showing buildings damaged in the 1942 bombing raids

Bath Blitz maps

On the night of 25th and 26th April 1942, the German airforce carried out major air raids on Bath. Over 400 people were killed, and a huge amount of damage caused to buildings.

The Bomb Damage maps show the effects of this bombing on the central area of Bath. Two of the maps are coloured to show the severity of the damage to buildings, and two show the exact location of each of the high explosive bombs which fell on the city.
