Using computers for research

Computers and Internet Access

We provide wi-fi, have four computers  and two digital microfilm readers available for public use, all free of charge.

We offer free access to the following subscription websites

  • Ancestry
  • Find My Past
  • British Newspaper Archive

You can also access non-subscription websites which may be relevant to your research. Staff will be happy to help and advise you.

To avoid disappointment, please telephone us on 01225 477421 to make an appointment before visiting to use the computers. For the websites Find My Past and the British Newspaper Archive, our subscription allows only one user at a time, so let us know if you wish to use these websites.

You are also welcome to use your own laptops or other devices.

If you are a Bath and North East Somerset library card holder, you can also access a large number of online sources from the B&NES 24-hour library website, inlcuding Who's Who, Who Was Who, the Dictionary of National Biography and the Times Digital Archive.
