Membership cards

We have introduced new membership cards to issue to all of our new and returning customers. They are free of charge (replacement cards will incur a £2 charge) and will enable you to sign in and out of the Record Office quickly and efficiently.

When will I receive my membership card?

You will be able to collect your card on your first visit to the Record Office. Your details will be recorded at the time of booking your first appointment by email or you can complete your details when you visit the Record Office. Please bring a form of identification with you so that we can issue you with your card.

What idenfitication do I need to bring?

We require photo ID and evidence of your signature. These can be on two different pieces of ID if necessary. Acceptable forms of ID include:

  • a driver's licence
  • utility bill
  • debit/credit card
  • bank statement
  • passport

What details do you record and for how long will these be kept?

Our membership database will include your name, address, email address or phone number. These details will be stored on a secure database and retained for 10 years. We process this information in accordance with the terms of the General Data Protection Regulations (article 6.1e) and the Data Protection Act 2018.  No personal information will be shared with any other body or individual without your specific consent or unless allowed by law.

Do I need a membership card if I have visited the Record Office before?

Yes, every visitor must have a membership card when they visit the Record Office. We ask that you bring it with you for every visit so that we can track entry and exit. All you need to do is scan the barcode and away you go - no pens, pencils or paper!
