Information

The foundation stone for the Chew Magna Baptist Church was laid by the Mayor of Bristol (Elisha S Robinson) on 3 Jul 1867 and the event was reported in The Western Daily Press of the following day.  In 1873 it was registered for performing marriages. The hall at the southern end has a year of 1887 carved into it.

The burials are in two rows between the church and Tunbridge Road with 39 memorials including a group of four recent (undocumented) cremation plaques.

The church is part of the ‘Chew and Yeo Baptist Network’ which includes Winford and Blagdon.
