Overview

Peasedown, which had been administered by Bathavon Rural District Council from 1933, was formed as a civil parish out of parts of Camerton, Dunkerton and Wellow, this taking effect on 1 Apr 1954. The new parish council decided to lay out its own cemetery, securing a loan for this 1956, and on 17 Jul 1958 part of it was consecrated by the Bishop of Taunton in the presence of two nonconformist ministers (Somerset Guardian and Radstock Observer of Fri 25 Jul 1958 p10). The site in Eckweek Lane was named Ashgrove Cemetery. In common with other municipal cemeteries, areas for Anglicans and non-Anglicans are separate.

The cemetery is administered by the civil parish council.

The civil parish has a burial register and associated grave register for the period 1958-2011. The burial register has 613 numbered entries with some entries having multiple burials for the same grave.
